Freemans Quay Swimming Pool

The new leisure centre, Freeman’s Quay, in Durham City, is a £12.5M project boasting an eight lane 25M competition-standard swimming pool, a learner pool, cafe and an extensive changing village, all tiled by P Plunkett Tiling, as well as a sports hall, dance studio and large health and fitness suite. The flagship property was designed by Andrew Bottomley of William Saunders Partnership, and built by Morgan Ashurst, to replace the existing pool at Old Elvet, Durham.  Speaking at the handover ceremony, Frayser Reynolds, leader of Durham City Council, praised the standard of workmanship by Plunkett’s, and various other attendees added their own compliments.
