Since our Summer update, Manchester Aquatics Centre has changed significantly and, as can be seen, is now barely recognizable when compared to the images taken at the early stages of the project. Having been on site for some eight months working alongside the Kier Construction site team and their wider supply chain, our skilled operatives have transformed vast swathes of the centre. Our main area of work has been within the centre’s expansive wet changing village and adjoining health suite. We initially undertook specialist and often bespoke preparation works to the facility’s existing backgrounds, using a combination of Marmox Multiboard and Mapei proprietary products. Following this, our skilled tradespeople installed a comprehensive waterproofing system and over 2000M² of wall and floor tiles, supplied by our supply chain partner Spectile Ltd, to give a fresh and modern look to the facility.
In recent weeks our focus has turned to the pool hall where, following a redesign of the pool edge tile work, including the installation of a bespoke plastic grating supplied by our long term partners from Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials GmbH, our squads have begun a similar process of restoration, tanking and reinstallation of wall and floor tiling.  As we rapidly move towards the business end of the project, we welcome the final push towards completion of the refurbishment. The completed remodel of this historic former Commonwealth Games venue will come to fruition later this year when it will become the focal point of Para-sport, as the centre is to be used for the Para Swimming World Championships.
