We are now nearing the end of our second month on site and our works are progressing well at the Manchester Aquatics Centre. With much of the wall preparation and associated waterproofing works to the facility’s vast changing village now complete, the first wall tiles, supplied by our long-time associates at Spectile Ltd, have now been installed.
Our skilled operatives have also commenced an exacting restoration of the Centre’s competition and dive pool tanks, to repair damage, but primarily to ensure the pools’ markings and guides etc. are in line with the updated FINA competition standards. Alongside this, work has also begun to the pool edge with operatives using a range of Mapei (UK) Ltd specialist screeding products to create the intricate substrate detail required to suit the pool edging’s updated design.
The uncertainty of some of these preparation elements of our work has already provided us with a number of unique challenges; our site team has been required to work even more collaboratively than usual with the Kier Construction site team to find design solutions and create the necessary details to progress the works.
Well done all involved on site – keep up the good work!
